EARLY CHILDHOOD

AGES 3-6

DAYS/HOURS

Half-day     8:35 a.m. – 11: 45 a.m.
Full-day      8:35 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.

In keeping with Montessori philosophy, we group students in multi-age classes, and they stay with the same teacher for three years. One teacher and one teaching assistant guide the students in exploring and learning in the Early Childhood program. They provide sequenced Montessori materials that have been proven exceptionally effective learning tools. Each day, students have some group instruction and some independent work time.

CURRICULUM

Our Early Childhood curriculum includes mathematics, sciences, language (both English and Spanish), geography, art, music, sensorial activities, and practical life skills. Each lesson and activity is designed to meet the needs of the child at his/her developmental level. Even at this young age, CVMS students are engaged in the concept and the reality of service to others. They help each other in their classes and they participate in the school’s service projects in ways that are developmentally appropriate.

The third year Early Childhood students (kindergarten age) participate in separate instruction periods for Spanish, music, and physical education.
